The Book of Acts testifies that the exalted Lord Jesus Christ, reigning at the right hand of the Father, continues His redemptive work in history by the Holy Spirit through the authoritative proclamation of the apostolic Word. In fulfillment of God’s eternal purposes revealed in the Scriptures, Christ gathers and builds His one catholic church from Jews and Gentiles alike, establishing its foundation once for all through the apostles, advancing His kingdom through suffering and opposition, and ensuring that the gospel proceeds, by divine sovereignty and irresistible grace, from Jerusalem to the ends of the earth until all His elect are called in.
